At the last major ISH trade fair in Frankfurt held last March, Roca has presented the Carmen bathtub, a product designed by BCF, this event represented an important moment for BCF for several reasons, the first is the one that establishes a long-lasting collaboration between our studio and Roca that reaches 32 years and where BCF has contributed to the development of various projects with continuity.
The second reason is represented by the theme of the product: the tub, which in the long collaboration between Roca and BCF has constituted a unique project since it is since 1989 that BCF collaborates with Roca for the development of the tanks, over 30 some products have become icons like the Aruba tub from 1995, and finally the design of the Carmen tub, inspired by the end-of-800 cast-iron tubs, is part of the “thematic design” research that BCF has been developing for almost 40 years and which has seen many important products in the most diverse sectors .
The thematic design, being a design that is inspired by themes linked to memory, is a philosophy that does not suffer from the contemporaneity and the age of fashions, objects designed with this approach that are over 30 years seem to have no time.
We report the interview of Marcello Cutino dedicated to thematic design and the video presentation of the tank.
